All homework is due when they arrive in class. I typically give homework every night except Friday.Routine homework assignments such as flash cards or reading for enjoyment are assigned every day. In order to effectively use flash cards to study multiplicagtion facts, start with just the zeros, ones and twos. Add fives when the first set is mastered. Then add the 4s and so on.Monday-I have the students practice their spelling. Rainbow writing is where the student prints the word once in pencil. They then trace over the letters at least 2 more times in different colors. Crayon doesn't work very well. I recommend marker or colored pencil. Spelling triangles are where the student writes the first letter, then directly underneath that letter writes the first 2 letters. On the third line they write the first 3 letters and so on until the word is finished. If they do this neatly, it should make a right triangle. I may also have them write a story or sentences using all of their spelling words.Tuesday- I will usually hand out a math or reading worksheet depending on the needs of the class.Wednesday: They will also be required to read the story that is in the basal reader. If we are not reading in the basal, I will not assign reading on Wednesday.
I will also usually hand out a math or reading worksheet depending on the needs of the class.Thursday- I will assign a math or reading worksheet depending on the needs of the class.Friday is no homework. Your child should read for 20 minutes though. Enjoy your family. This means you may help your child with homework in third grade!!!
