My name is Ashley Mitsch and I am so excited to work with your student this year as their second grade teacher! I look forward to providing your child with an environment that is accepting, individualizing, and challenging. Above anything else, I want your child to have a happy and positive experience in second grade.

I want to tell you a little about myself and my background. I attended Indiana University Northwest where I graduated from in December 2014 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Special Education. I finished my second degree in May of 2015 and again graduated with a bachelor's in General Studies.I am currently working on a master's degree in educational leadership from IU Bloomington.  This is my sixth year teaching. I took a medical leave right out of college at Clark Middle School with the Lake Central School Corporation. I worked with the 7th grade exceptional learners while working at Clark. I then was hired at Wheeler in Crown Point as the 6th grade exceptional learners teacher.

Personally, I have been married for five years. We currently live in Lowell on a 2,000 acre farm. My husband (Scott) is a truck driver. I have one step-daughter, Abby (12), a son, Easton (2), and a daughter, Briar (1). Besides teaching, my other interests include crafting, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family.

I hope that we all have the chance to work together as educational partners for your child this year. I am fully committed to having an open line of communication between us, as that will be an important part of success this year. Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, or other comments you may have throughout the school year. I will also be in touch with you regularly. ClassDojo is my preferred method of communication. Thank you, and best wishes for a successful year!

    My best regards,

    Ashley Mitsch
